Oakton students can transfer to Elmhurst University through various transfer agreements and according to the following academic pathways.

Agreements

Benefits

  • Guaranteed admission and a seamless transfer to Elmhurst University.
  • Can transfer up to 70 credit hours into more than 70 undergraduate degree programs.
  • Personalized academic planning from Oakton and Elmhurst. 
  • Can attend events on both campuses.
  • Access to Elmhurst scholarships and awards, including exclusive funding for transfer students and community college graduates. 
  • Oakton Honors students with a 3.5 GPA or higher are invited to apply to the Honors Program at Elmhurst University.
  • Upon completion of the associate degree (A.A., A.S., A.E.S., A.F.A., A.A.S.) students will be accepted at junior status if 64 semester hours of transferable credit are earned.

Criteria

In order to qualify, students must:

  • begin participation within the first year of enrollment at Oakton College and up to the first two weeks of their final year. 
  • complete a minimum of 24-30 transferable credit hours.
  • complete general education coursework required for admission into their Elmhurst University degree program within three years of initial enrollment at Oakton College.
  • maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale for all transferable Oakton courses. 

Special Notes

  • Please note that the A.E.S., A.F.A., and A.A.S. degrees do not transfer in their entirety.
  • Nursing and education programs have a GPA requirement of 2.8 and an additional application process to be considered.
  • Communication sciences & disorders program has a GPA requirement of 3.2 and a separate application process to be considered.
  • International students must demonstrate English language proficiency.

Benefits 

  • The Honors Scholarship is in the full amount of tuition only. Fees, books, room and board, etc. are the responsibility of the student.
  • The recipient must maintain a 3.00 cumulative grade point average as a full-time degree seeking student for renewal of the scholarship. The scholarship is good for two years (four semesters) with a potential fifth semester upon appeal.
  • If the recipient files FAFSA and is MAP Grant eligible, the Honors Scholarship will be reduced by the amount of the MAP Grant received.
  • This is the only scholarship a student may earn from Elmhurst University. There will not be the opportunity to receive a merit-based scholarship such as the Transfer Excellence Scholarship or one of our “stackable” scholarships such as the Legacy Scholarship.
  • External scholarships from a community, business or organization (ex: a Coca-Cola scholarship) can be stacked on top of the Honors Scholarship and used for costs related to fees, books, room and board, etc.
  • The Honors Scholarship may not cover all costs associated with international study if the tuition for overseas study is greater than the tuition at Elmhurst University during that academic period.
  • Oakton must inform Elmhurst of the winner by the designated award date.
  • The scholarship awardee must let both Oakton and Elmhurst University know that they are accepting the award by the requested date.
  • If the original awardee selects a college other than Elmhurst University, Oakton may award the scholarship to the “runner-up” applicant next in line.
  • The community college will share, at minimum, demographic information for each scholarship applicant. Oakton will attain student permission to share this information with Elmhurst University.

Criteria

In order to qualify, students must:

  1. be an Oakton Honors student before enrollment at Elmhurst University.
  2. have 3.50 GPA for the top tier merit-based scholarships.
  3. meet all scholarship application requirements and deadlines set by Oakton and Elmhurst.
  4. have applied and been admitted to Elmhurst University during the Spring semester before transferring in the Fall.
  5. be a full-time, first-time bachelor’s degree student. 

Special Notes

  • Students already enrolled at Elmhurst University are not eligible.
  • Academic Year 2025-2026 is the last year for this scholarship opportunity.

  • Students with a GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in transferable courses are invited to apply to the Honors Program at Elmhurst University. 
  • Upon completion of the associate degree (A.A., A.S., A.E.S., A.F.A., A.A.S.) students will meet the requirement for junior status if 64 semester hours of transferable credit are earned.

Criteria

To qualify, students must:

  • participate in the program from their first year of enrollment at Oakton College through the receipt of their associate's degree.
  • take a minimum of one course (4 semester hours) up to a maximum of two courses (8 semester hours) per academic year at Elmhurst University while concurrently attending Oakton College.
  • maintain full time status (12 semester hours) cumulatively between both institutions for entry into their Elmhurst University degree program within three years of initial enrollment at Oakton College.
  • maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale on all transferable course work taken at Oakton College. 

Special Note

  • The A.E.S, A.F.A., and A.F.A. degrees may not transfer in their entirety like the A.A and A.S degrees. These degrees may require additional coursework to be completed at Elmhurst University.
  • A maximum of 70 credits can be applied to the baccalaureate degree.
  • International students must demonstrate English language proficiency.
