Governors State University
Oakton students can transfer to Governors State University through our dual degree program (DDP) agreement.
Benefits
- Students can enroll in the DDP while completing their associate degree at Oakton, providing a seamless pathway to a bachelor's degree at Governors State University.
- DDP is inclusive of all associate degrees.
- Students who meet DDP requirements lock in GovState's tuition rate at the time they enroll in the DDP, helping provide predictable tuition costs.
- Assigned GovState Transfer Specialist who provides transfer planning, admissions assistance, and academic guidance throughout the program.
- Students work with advisors at both Oakton and GovState to develop an individualized plan of study that supports timely completion of both the associate and bachelor's degrees.
- Access to advising, counseling, financial aid, tutoring, library resources, computer labs, orientations, student activities, and campus events at both Oakton and GovState.
Criteria
To qualify, students must:
- be enrolled at Oakton College in an associate degree program
- enroll in at least six (6) credit hours per semester while attending Oakton
- maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and remain in good academic standing
- complete and submit the Dual Degree Program (DDP) Enrollment Form while enrolled at Oakton
- meet with academic advisors from both Oakton and Governors State University at least once each semester
- develop and maintain an approved academic plan with advisors from both institutions
- complete the associate degree within three (3) years of enrolling in the DDP to maintain eligibility for the guaranteed tuition benefit
- meet all admission requirements for their intended bachelor's degree program at Governors State University, as some programs have additional admission criteria

- Participation in the DDP does not guarantee admission to all bachelor's degree programs at Governors State University. Some academic programs have additional admission requirements and supplemental application materials
