Oakton students can transfer to Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) through our guaranteed admission partnership and according to the academic pathways outlined below.

Benefits

Criteria

To qualify, students must:

  • be a high school graduate (diploma or GED).
  • complete an A.A., A.S., or A.A.S. at Oakton before transferring with a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale on all the transferrable coursework.
  • have completed both EGL 101 and EGL 102 with grades of C or higher to meet the English proficiency requirements of NEIU.
  • enroll and complete general education and coursework required for admission into their NEIU degree program within three years of initial enrollment in the Guaranteed Admission program.
  • be in good standing at Oakton at the time of transfer.

Special Notes

  • Students will not need to submit separate proof of English proficiency at the time of application.
  • Maximum of 64 credit hours will be applied to the baccalaureate degree.
  • Courses lower than 100-level and courses not deemed transferrable cannot be transferred towards the baccalaureate degree.
